Global and Chinese Efforts in Advancing the Circular Economy to Combat Climate Change was held in Baku, Azerbaijan

On November 20, 2024, “Global and Chinese Efforts in Advancing the Circular Economy to Combat Climate Change” side event was successfully held at the China Pavilion of COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, which was co-organized by China Association of Circular Economy (CACE) and Ellen MacArthur Foundation, and supported by China International Engineering Consulting Corporation, Baowu Group Environmental Resource Science and Technology Co.,Ltd. Cainiao Group, Beijing Zhuanzhuan Spirit Technology and Lingxiong Technology. The following distinguished guests attend the event: Zhao Yingmin, head of the Chinese Delegation to COP 29, vice minister of China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment. Liu Zhenmin, China’s special envoy for climate change. Nate Hultman, SPEC distinguished senior advisor of United States. Wen Hua, deputy director general of department of resource conversation and environmental protection, National Development and Reform Commission. Kirsti Narinen, ambassador of Finland to the South Caucasus. Wang Yi, Member of NPC Resource and Environment Committee, Vice Chair of China Expert Panel on Climate Change.

The side event consisted of four parts: opening remarks, research achievements release, keynote speeches and release joint initiatives, which were hosted by Zhu Liyang, President of CACE, Wang Hao, Deputy Director of the Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Promotion Division of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environment Protection of NDRC, Zhang Yingjian, Director General of Resource and Environment Department of China International Engineering Consulting Corporation, and Guo Zhanyang, Secretary General of CACE. Two research reports, “Sino-US Circular Economy Experts Joint Research Report (2024)” and “Circular Economy Trio: Promoting China to Implement Climate Action” were released, and “Corporate Initiative on Accelerating the Development of Circular Economy in Support of Climate Action” was released for the first time with more than 30 domestic and foreign enterprises. Nearly 100 representatives from domestic and foreign government departments, research institutions, international organizations and enterprises attended the event.
