In order to implement the important consensus reached by the Chinese and European leaders, the first China-EU High-Level Policy Dialogue on Circular Economy was successfully held on September 26, 2023 in accordance with the relevant arrangements of the MOU on China-EU Circular Economy Cooperation signed by the two sides. Zhao Chenxin, Vice-Chairman of China’s National Development and Reform Commission, and Virginijus Sinkevičius, Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries co-chaired the dialogue.
Both sides agreed to renew the MOU on China-EU Circular Economy Cooperation for another five years and focus on strengthening cooperation in the areas such as battery recycling, plastic pollution control and remanufacturing development, etc. The two sides will launch the drafting of the roadmap for China-Eu circular economy cooperation in the next stage, push for more practical cooperation outcomes and contribute more to global climate and environmental governance.
