The delegation of the CACE participated in the World Circular Economy Forum 2025 in Brazil and conducted international exchanges

From May 13 to 16, 2025, the 9th World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF 2025) was held in São Paulo, Brazil, attracting nearly 10,000 representatives from government, business, academia, and research institutions worldwide. Focusing on scalable circular economy solutions, the forum aimed to provide practical references for the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) and accelerate the global resource efficiency revolution to achieve both climate and economic objectives. Liu Dechun, Director General of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of NDRC, attended the forum and held bilateral meetings with officials from relevant departments of Brazil, the Netherlands, and other countries during the event.

The China Association of Circular Economy (CACE) organized a Chinese delegation comprising industry, academia, and research institutions to participate in the event in Brazil. Led by Mr. Zhu Liyang, President of CACE, the delegation included leading enterprises in green packaging, battery recycling, biomass energy, and remanufacturing, as well as think tank experts from China International Engineering Consulting Corporation (CIECC) and Tsinghua University.

On May 15, the China Association of Circular Economy (CACE) and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation(EMF) jointly hosted the China-Brazil Circular Economy Development and Cooperation Forum in Brazil. Nearly 100 representatives from relevant Chinese and Brazilian government agencies, enterprises, and organizations attended the event. Brazilian participants included officials from government departments such as the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Finance; representatives from local institutions including the São Paulo Municipal Secretariat for Economic and Labor Development; research organizations like the Brazilian Institute of Circular Economy; corporate delegates from Michelin South America, Vale of Brazil., Bayer Brazil, among others; and representatives of international organizations including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Institute for Climate and Society (ICS). Liu Dechun, Director General of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of NDRC, attended the forum and delivered a speech.

During the World Circular Economy Forum, the delegation of CACE, led by Executive Vice President Zhao Kai, conducted on-site visits to two companies—Suzano and Tecnored (a subsidiary of Vale of Brazil ). And carried out in-depth exchanges on the technological innovation practices, development prospects, and collaboration potential in areas such as bio-based material packaging and the use of biomass charcoal to replace coking coal in ironmaking.

After Brazil, the delegation visited Argentina, have in-depth exchanges with local tanks, industry associations, and enterprises on topics including renewable resource recycling, green finance innovations, and hazardous waste management. These exchanges aimed to advance technological cooperation and project implementation in the circular economy between China and Argentina.
