Announcement on Global Telecom Industry Circular Economy Forum

2019-09-27

Today, the so called "linear" economy is a "take, make, dispose" model of production, which consumes limited natural resources and generates waste. In order to meet current challenges, businesses have to support energy and ecological transition. New models are emerging to meet these challenges, notably through the circular economy. Stakeholders see circular economy as a shift in business models and operational processes: a challenge to be addressed through life-cycle and value chain; a way to optimize environmental, economic and social impacts; and a new business philosophy.

In order to further promote the development of circular economy and jointly address the global challenges, Orange and China Association of Circular Economy will hold the "Global Telecom Industry Circular Economy Forum" on October 21st, 2019 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.

The focus of this upcoming Forum will look at the tremendous opportunities as well as new regulations related to "Circular Economy", having a common understanding on the principles and practices underpinning the responsible use of the planet's resources. The forum will invite representatives of relevant government departments, leading telecom operators, enterprises, institutions, NGOs and researchers to explore the opportunities and challenges of circular economy and share best practices.
